CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL 2023-2024 REFLECTIONS ARTIST ENTRIES HERE AT MUKILTEO ELEMENTARY!! We are so excited to announce that 5 of our ME Students have now advanced to Washington State PTA contest level.
VIEW OUR VIRTUAL ART GALLERY This year, Mukilteo Elementary students from all grade levels participated in the National PTA Reflections Arts Program. The theme this year was “Show Your Voice!”. Students had the opportunity to create original works of art and incorporate the theme into literature, music composition, photography, or visual arts. A workshop was hosted at the beginning of January in the atrium after school and the turnout was great. Around 20 students showed up and created art as they interpreted the theme. They also created an artist statement which explained their work. We are so excited to have 11 submissions this year! Since we can send 8 pieces to Washington State PTA for the next stage, the PTSA Officers judged each piece anonymously according to the program guidelines to select the top 8 projects. Every artist who submitted a project is receiving a certificate and ribbon (in teacher mailboxes). At last night's PTSA meeting, we honored the top 3 artists: Hailey Evans, Hana Dau, and Josephine Lee. We are so proud of all of the students who participated! Friends and family are welcome to view artwork displayed in our Student Gallery in the Mukilteo Elementary front office! Or check out the slideshow or video!
We won't be able to hold Art Studio Workshops this year, but you can still create art to submit to the PTA Reflections Art Competition! All art must be submitted by December 4th, 2020.
This year, all art will be submitted digitally. All submissions including photos of physical artwork can be submitted to [email protected], and must include an entry form completed by both student and parent. This year's virtual submission and presentation is a perfect format to showcase submissions in the other categories beyond visual arts and photography. Unleash your creativity and show us why YOU matter with music composition, a film, dance choreography, or literature! If we receive more than 10 submissions, we will host a virtual gallery night via Zoom on December 19th. If there are fewer than 10 submissions, all entries will be moved on to the state-level contest. Read more about the PTA Reflections contest, including everything you need to know about this year's theme and check out this video call for entries! For 50 years, National PTA’s Reflections cultural arts program has helped students explore their own thoughts, feelings and ideas, develop artistic literacy, increase confidence and find a love for learning that will help them become more successful in school and in life. Each year, hundreds of thousands of students in Pre-K through Grade 12 create and submit original works of art in one or all of the six available arts categories. his year, the theme is Heroes Around Me. Your student can create and submit a work of art in any of the following categories:
Visual Arts Photography Literature Music Film Dance Choreography The Art Docent in your student's classroom may focus their October and November art lessons on this theme. The PTSA will also host art studio hours in the library after school November 7-9 so artists can work on their Reflections submissions. All submissions are due to the PTSA Reflections Committee by November 30th. Look for more information in your student's Friday Folder, as well as in the PTSA newsletter and Facebook page.
